Megashore: Flying Tables

R-Four received the contract to build two towers about 30,000 sqft (2,850 sqm) each. The construction schedule was accelerated so R-Four decided to work with large flying tables, minimizing the number of moves. Individual tables- about 25’ x 50’ (7.8m x 15.24m) in size -were to fill one bay wherever possible.

This is the first time R-Four is building tables of this size. In fact, these are the largest Ischebeck fly tables built in BC so far.  R-Four asked Ischebeck Can if building tables this large was feasible. Ischebeck has extensive experience with large tables and assured R-Four that this was one of the strengths of Megashore.

Megashore: Flying Tables, Bridging Beam as Cantilever Table

Ischebeck bridging beam cantilever tables save the contractor time and money. Without this solution, R-Four Contracting would have to use significant resources and labour to deal with the architectural features of these towers.

Balconies and overhangs are supported by the shoring table and appear as the building extends upwards. Cantilever tables allow us to do this without the need to shore down multiple levels. As the building further develops, these tables also hold the necessary re-shore. With cantilever tables we can design flying tables (used for the typical level slabs) to fit all slab configurations. No modifications have to be made to the tables for the duration of the tower construction.

Megashore: Tables and Flying Tables

This was a demanding project, as the footprint of the tower turned with each level to give it a unique appearance. R-Four Contracting developed table tops specific to this project in order to accommodate the oblong-shaped slab-beam on each level, which turns with the tower. This specific table design allowed them to pour the slabs efficiently.

Ischebeck HV and Megashore

The suspended slabs of The Budzey Building do not have slab-beams. Therefore they lend themselves perfectly for the application of the Ischebeck HV system for efficient forming. Maximum ceiling height was 18'. The ramp to the parkade required the Ischebeck Megashore system.
